It often occurs to me that it would be much easier to dedicate my time to painting with the intention of being liked. The path would be straight if I worked trying to be that which, objectively, would position me as an authority in front of any public, re-produce that which has already had value or a combination of images from the past. If my painting were demonstrative and tried to communicate an easily accessible aesthetic, an ode to figuration, I could have superficial conversations more often, in which I don't have to open my most intimate recesses to people who have no intention of delving into various subjects. It complicates my existence when I assume to get lost when I can use the GPS, because let's not lie to ourselves, the human eye is permanently looking for what it knows or re-cognizes, but in spite of everything, I am fascinated by the abysses, to go deep and trust that no matter how long the storm is, the light will always return; to see the horizon from the top of a tree; the waves breaking on the rocks from the depths of the sea.

It is true that the limits of language can compress many hearts that desperately feel the need to express themselves, to delve into details and emotions that words commonly used would never dare to illuminate. But let's not fool ourselves, even if we had the words capable of describing our deepest feelings, we would not easily find those people with the art of listening and of delving into our most intimate follies. It is true that the static character of the old dictionary and its solid definitions make it very difficult to move words around, and even more difficult to relate them to abstract ideas that are constantly changing. This is the origin of poetry and the need of the human being to leave gaps free for interpretation, to leave space to read between the lines, knowing that a work is lived and felt by two, a relationship that gives life to those who allow themselves to experience it with its different intensities and sensitivities. This relationship that is created between the two creators gives meaning to the work, the “creator” and the “receiver” resonate without even having to agree, a gesture of generosity that crosses time and space giving value to the work. A relationship of love between different worlds through a few strokes, a set of interpretable traces for those who know the hare, the puma and its gait.

I understand the use of painting, dance or music to communicate, because we know the limits of language and the freedom that is allowed to “art”. There is no doubt that art makes bodies resonate, alters the senses and generates the desire to live, but I have the obligation to put down on paper my nuance against this word so often used.Certain things in the world cannot be forced, they are born and not made. With the most elaborate technique, you can force, re-produce, re-present images from the past, re-interpret them for productive purposes, combine and re-structure them to communicate preconceived ideas, thus generating desire. You can project perfection and even believe you can achieve it, but such control freakery is the identity of the culture we live in, and has nothing to do with art.We can all give life, but you cannot foresee the effect of a child's sincere smile, the color of his eyes or the way he makes you laugh. Art communicates, expresses, proposes and exposes itself as a consequence, it makes us feel and is born from the depth of the intimate.

Art is what still natural as humans.
